Location and time

The sesions are held at Laurea Tikkurila on Tuesdays. The first session is on Tuesday 22.1. at 9 -11.45. It is highly compulsory to participate the first session. The room is AB400.

Qualitative research methods and reporting

Alternative completion methods of implementation

Inpependent work or recognition of prior competence in case a student has experience on accessibility and can demonstrate it. Demonstration of prior competence in a class room in form of a lecture or a work shop.

Co-operation with working life and/or RDI

Accessiblity evaluation conduction at a work place according to the Easy to Move Criteria ( for example at an internship place in Finland or in a foreign country).

Important dates

The first day is on Tue 22.1. and the final day is on 14.5. The sessions are held on Tuesdays.

Forms of internationality

The study unit is for all students at Laurea. Finnish and International students are welcome to learn and study together about accessibliity, which concers all fields and study programmes. Multicultural teams.

Content and scheduling

Theory Part and Study Visits. Exam. 5 cr:
1)Benchmarking accessible service environments in your field of study. Presentation of your findings in classroom.
2)Theory review and study visits (literature, previous research on the topic, organizations, articles).Presentation of your findings in classroom.
3)Legislation (EU, national). Presentation of your findings in classroom.
Accessibility Evaluation, Reporting and Presenting the Results. 5 cr:
1)Research methods and plan for accessibility evaluation according to the Easy to Move criteria: Present your plan in classroom.
2)Research conduction (accessibility evaluation)
3)Reporting and presenting the results. Development ideas. Present the results in classroom. Media release on the results (1-2 pages). Return date for the individual report and media release.

Evaluation criteria: Scale from Fail to 5 ( Excellent)
Active participation ( virtual and contact)
Do your home work according to the instructions
Respect the return dates
Diary notes or a Vlog after every session: What did I learn today? What should I learn more? = Self-reflection on my professional competence / skills development
