Learning outcomes

The student is able to
- analyse the effect of country specific public policy and legislation in response to Covid 19 and compare with other countries.
- understand the impact of lockdown restrictions have on public health.
- compare and contrast your experience of nursing during the covid pandemic with colleagues from different countries

Teaching methods

Welcome to this collaborative online course. In this course we will examine the nurses’ roles and responsibilities in Covid-19 pandemic frontline. We will also analyze the effect of country specific public policy and legislation in response to Covid-19 and compare them with other countries. During this course, nursing students will also be able to compare their experiences of nursing during the Covid-19 pandemic with colleagues from different countries.

Learning context can change very rapidly in education, this COIL project can help students to develop intercultural competences and offers possibilities to co-operate with nursing students from different countries. In this course there will be nursing students participating from Rwanda, UK, Finland, Botswana, Belgium and Brazil.

All nursing students in Laurea are welcome to join in this course.

Participants and Admission requirements:
10 to 20 nursing students from each participating country. The course is recommended to 2nd-4th year nursing students who have been in clinical placement during the Covid-19 pandemic

Learning materials and recommended literature

Will be introduced in the course orientation. The date for the orientation will be informed via email to the registered students in January 2021.

This course will be conducted in co-operation with nursing students and teachers from from Rwanda, UK, Finland, Botswana, Belgium and Brazil.
