Learning outcomes
The student is able to
- identify and analyse factors that increase vulnerability, the related support needs and their significance in nursing
- analyse special needs related to multicultural client relationships and immigration in social and health care
- encounter vulnerable clients in nursing and service situations in a sensitive manner
- promote participation, inclusion and rehabilitation of vulnerable clients and their significant others as part of nursing care
- describe the service network of vulnerable client groups and the tasks of different operators as part of the care and service chain and to consult other experts
- critically assess service processes in the social and health care sector from the perspective of vulnerable client groups and implement service guidance
- utilise evidence-based information and recommendations in the guidance and nursing care of clients in a vulnerable position and clients with an immigrant background
- analyse their own and other people's myths, beliefs and prejudices against vulnerable client groups and promote the development of positive attitudes

Lectures (zoom), seminar and independent project work.
Project work is big part of that course and project day 13.12 is compulsory.

Content and scheduling
Identifying factors and situations in life that increase vulnerability (e.g. unemployment, poverty, disability, high need for healthcare services, immigration, and cultural background factors)
- Immigrant service needs and specific health promotion issues
- Service guidance, service needs assessment, and service plan as a working method in nursing
- Peer support organizations
- Special features of interaction and guidance in meeting vulnerable clients
