Evaluation methods and criteria

National evaluation criteria in use, see Optima
Written exam, oral presentation and written assignments

Oral presentation: dialogue, file-specific theme, about 10 minutes, in pairs, lang lab

Written assignments:
- My day in practical training, essay, 1 A4, a typical day in clinical training, duties, colleagues, patients/clients
- translation of a field-specific article from English into Finnish, 3 A4 sheets, link to the original text included in the translation, links and hints in LibGuides
- handed in to Optima return box. SHG Wed 19 Feb, STG Thu 19 Mar

Evaluation criteria, approved/failed

Fails to produce English even on a minimum level of acceptance

Evaluation criteria, fail (0)

Failing to produce field-specific vocabulary and grammatical constructions

Evaluation criteria, satisfactory (1-2)

Knows about the basic vocabulary of the field and can use it, a lot of problems in the use of grammatical constructions and accurate vocabulary

Evaluation criteria, good (3-4)

Can produce field-specific vocabulary and grammar works fairly well, but lapses and errors occur

Evaluation criteria, excellent (5)

Shows good mastery of field-specific terminology and can use even more demanding grammatical constructions
